I remember going to Hua Hin once in a van that I caught from Victory Monument, before they moved location.

Upon arrival at the bus station in Hua Hin I needed to then take a tuk-tuk to my hotel and the fare to travel a distance less than 2 km was the same as the van fare from Bangkok.

Walking wasn't really an option as there was a massive thunderstorm going on, so I just had to pay up.

So when you are budgeting your trip, then bear in mind that there will be an additional fee for the transport to your Hua Hin hotel.
